For the operating system, see Android.

Android, Inc. was a privately owned company that was founded in 2003[1] by Andy Rubin, Richard Miner, Chris White, and Nick Sears.[2][3] It was acquired by Google in 2005.[2] It operated under a "cloak of secrecy", so no one knew what the company was working on.[2] However, it was actually working on the Android operating system.[4]
