1) We rolled out message wall and I turned it on. It's an easier way to send messages to people and to have a conversation without going into an editor each time and increasing the indent, etc. Let me know what you think!
2) I was thinking about maybe changing the theme to reflect ICS with a dark background and light blue theme. Since its all AOSP, we can get icons, fonts, colors (hex, RGB, etc) online. I really go like the green/white, but since it's no longer the face of the OS, it might be a good idea to match that (and change the site as the OS changes). Thoughts?
1) It looks really good - much prefer it to the old User talk pages.
2) Agreed - although the green does look good it no longer reflects the current scheme of Android. Getting the content styles off AOSP should be great and will work well - let's work on the theme! :-D
@Matt yay- Happy Wikia Day :-). New theme looks fantastic - the background image does look a bit odd on my 1280*1024 monitor though (repeats 3/4 of the way down :-( ). Need to reupload the images with transparency now :-D Especially like the logo!
Nice! I have yet to hear back from the dev. I sent him a message - I'll follow up with him in person. I've been adding content to the Software sections (history/verions/etc). My goal is to make a template today for phoens so it'es easy for users to add new ones. That and add some galleries for each section with screenshots of the versions, etc. Currently its just text. BTW - I got the Galaxy Nexus yesterday (release day) - it's SICK!
Ok thanks :-) . Template idea is good! You've got a Nexus? Lucky thing! I've got a good ol' Galaxy i5800 (Galaxy 3), albeit with a custom ROM, custom Kernel and OC'd to 1200Mhz :-D. As you can tell from my open tabs in the screenshot with my theme alterations, I also have a O2 Joggler which I am *trying* to port ICS to :-). How's ICS for you?
Awesome man, I could never get wither of my Nexus Ones to root (well mine and my brothers) I'm not sure why.... Nice OC though! I really like ICS visually. It's a bit of a re-learning curve in where things are located, but I'm sure you've read dozens of reviews as well :P
My favorite thing really is the revamped settings. It's super useful. I'm stepping down from an unlimited plan to a 4GB/month but with a much better carrier (I was thinking about getting the SGS2, but it came down to switching carriers). So it's been great to really monitor what I'm doing, how the battery is, etc. I watched som HD video this AM for 40 minutes and it was really good!
Thanks! Regarding the Nexus One - did you try using z4root? It worked for me. TBH I'd rather have the Galaxy Nexus over the SGII - it looks a lot nicer, will be better supported (hopefully - it's a Google flagship phone after all!) and it has better specs :-) . I'm also on unlimited data (here in the UK) but I rarely use over 500mb (don't stream that many videos on the go). Will have a look at Wikia.css now.
haha nice! It looks really good - thanks! I had used Super One Click to root it with the Gingerbreak exploit but they would hang after step 6 or something. I'll look into z4 root (espercially since i have a new one and am not too worried about bricking. I might get a USB Jib either way). Yea, I'm sure I made the right decision - the SGS2 won't get ICS for a few months at least, and I would have to buy it off contract, etc.. Plus that carrier is not known for great service. The screen on the GN is amazing. I'm interested to see what my data will be - yesterday Google Music tried to download a bunch of songs to cache on my phone . Doh!
Oops - I couldn't fall into the same pitfall even I had capped data as Google Music isn't available yet in the UK :-(
It's a contour 720p screen, isn't it? Sounds better than the iPhone one, anyway, especially with the extra space! (heresy to mention the iPhone on this wiki! LOL :-D)
Ehh, you're not missing too much. Google Music only really came in handy when I accidentally wiped my main partition to install Windows 8 developer. (I made 2 and forgot the drive was encrypted, so it wiped). I had pretty much everything still there!
Yep,the screen is a contour 720p. I love it. I'll compare it to the iphone (both in hand) tomorrow I think). It's definitely better spec for spec, but I guess better all depends on what you are looking for. ICS is a major step up for usability if you try to work with it rather than continue your old habits.
Thanks for putting the notifications back, I took it out and realized later that some of those sections would have been good to keep. What are your thoughts on making that bar blue (#51aaca) and 'Notifications' black?
Here are the ICS colors btw:
Light Blue: #51aaca
